仙台地域のおすすめの旬な食材、今回は名取市の「仙台せり」をご紹介します。

名取市のせり栽培の歴史は古く、名取川の潤沢な伏流水を利用して、約400年前の江戸時代から行われています。宮城県のせりは全国トップの出荷量を誇り、JA仙台では上余田芹出荷組合と下余田芹出荷組合の2つの出荷組合から出荷されています。

今回お話を伺ったのは、JA仙台 下余田芹出荷組合組合長の三浦次雄さんです。今年は夏の猛暑で8月の初出荷は量が少なかったそうですが、現在は年末の最盛期から引き続き順調に出荷しています。細かな水位の調整でせりの長さを調整し、根っこの長さにまでこだわって、なるべく質の良いものを届けたいという想いで栽培しています。その後、農協の厳しい検査を経て、高品質な「仙台せり」が皆様のもとに届けられています！

三浦さんおススメの食べ方は、やっぱり定番の「せり鍋」。ほかにも三浦さんのお宅ではすき焼きに入れて食べるそうです！

This time, we're introducing Sendai water dropwort from Natori City, a recommended seasonal ingredient from the Sendai region.
Natori City has a long history of water dropwort cultivation, dating back to the Edo period, approximately 400 years ago, using the abundant underground water of the Natori River. Miyagi Prefecture boasts the highest shipping volume of water dropwort in the country, and JA Sendai ships it through two shipping associations: the Kamiyouden Seri Shipping Association and the Shimoyouden Seri Shipping Association.
Today, we spoke with Tsugio Miura, chairman of the JA Sendai Shimoyouden Seri Shipping Association. This year, due to the intense heat of the summer, the first shipment in August was small, but shipments are now continuing smoothly since the peak at the end of the year. The length of the water dropwort is controlled by meticulous adjustments to the water level, and even the length of the roots is carefully considered, with the aim of delivering the highest quality possible. After undergoing rigorous inspection by the agricultural cooperative, high-quality Sendai water dropwort is delivered to you!
Miura's recommended way to eat it is the classic "seri nabe" (Japanese dropwort hotpot). He also adds it to sukiyaki at home!
Sendai dropwort is sold at supermarkets, so be sure to enjoy this winter delicacy! ✨
