健康村里山自然学校　第３回「棚田オーナー制度」

澄み渡る秋空の下、黄金色に染まった棚田が収穫のときを迎えました。
この日は、オーナーの皆さんと一緒に稲刈りを行い、稲の乾燥は昔ながらの稲架（はさ）掛け（川場村では「はってがけ」と言います。（天日干し））に挑戦。太陽の光をたっぷり浴びて、豊かに実った稲を両手いっぱいに感じながら、一束ずつ丁寧に刈り取っていきます。
また、田んぼの片隅から作業を見守る「案山子(かかし)」たちも収穫を喜んでいるように見えます。
ここから２～３週間、秋の陽射しと風を浴びて、お米の旨みと甘みが一層引き出されます。
自然の恵みと手間暇かけて育てたお米の味わいを楽しむ日が待ち遠しいですね。

Under a clear autumn sky, the golden rice terraces are ready for harvest.
On this day, we joined the owners in trying out the traditional "hattegake" method of harvesting rice and drying it in the sun.
Bathed in sunlight, the farmers carefully harvest each bundle, feeling the weight of the ripe rice in their hands.
The scarecrows watching over the work from a corner of the rice field also seem to be pleased with the harvest.
For the next two to three weeks, the rice will be exposed to the autumn sunshine and wind, bringing out even more of its flavor and sweetness.
We can't wait until the day comes when we can enjoy the taste of rice that has been grown with the blessings of nature and with such painstaking time and effort.
