【新旧をつなぐアート作品】

水墨抽象絵画の第一人者、篠田桃紅氏による二幅対（にふくつい）の水墨画。フロントレセプションでご覧いただけます。2対の一方は篠田氏の代表作「無題」（1963年作）。かつては旧ホテルのスイートルームに飾られており、1966年に当館に宿泊したビートルズがこの作品に感動し、この作品が描かれた筆と同じものを購入したという逸話が残されています。

もう一方は、ザ・キャピトルホテル 東急がオープンする際に篠田氏が描いた「豊」（2010年作）。これらの作品は、新旧のホテルを歴史をつなぐ象徴となっています。館内アート作品を通して当ホテルの軌跡に触れていただけます。

Art from the past and the present

Leading abstract Ink painter Toko Shinoda created one of the iconic artworks in the former hotel. When the Beatles stayed at the hotel in 1966, they were so taken by the work they purchased a brush identical to the one used to create it. For The Capitol Hotel Tokyu's opening in 2010, Toko Shinoda created a new work. Today they’re displayed as a pair, symbolising the connection between the history of the hotel; old and new.
